This quilt design was inspired by the brickwork and paving in the famous Forbidden City in Beijing.  I spent a day there with my husband Rob, awe struck by the architecture and the shear size of the Palace grounds.  While it has many intricacies to its design, the brickwork and paving takes on an interesting, yet simplistic look, that draws the eye in with its almost maze like designs.
